U's Seal Vital 2-1 Win

Colchester United have tonight secured a vital 2-1 win against Preston, their first at home in nine games, to lift themselves away from the Championship basement.

Other results mean that the U`s are no longer in last place, while their relegation opponents surrendered a draw to lose when vice captain Johnnie Jackson smashed the late winner three minutes from time.

Neil Mellor had levelled the scoring after Scott Scot Vernon opened the scoring from the penalty spot.

Excellent Result For You...Well Done...!

Great result, thought we had squanded another victory when they leveled. Jackson's strike was excellent. should have been 4 or 5 with the chances we had. Ifill, White and Platt were excellent. The only bad points were not keeping a clean sheet and without Lisbie or Yeates there is not much pace in the team. We are staying up....!!!!!
