Brown Backs U`s To Stay Up

Ex-Colchester defender Wayne Brown, now with Hull, has backed his former employers to avoid relegation.

Brown, who left Layer Road under controversial circumstances, just over six-months ago, was impressed with his old club`s performance as the U`s drew 1-1 at the KC Stadium on Saturday.

The 30-year-old, who made over 100 appearances in a three year spell with the U`s, came close to snatching all three points for Hull, but Dean Gerken produced a fine save to deny the no-nonsense centre-half.

Following the hard-fought draw, Brown told the EADT: "I honestly think that Colchester will stay up."

'If they play like that every week, then they'll have no problems."

'Their new players have made a difference, and Scottie (Scott Vernon) and Platty (Clive Platt) made it difficult for us. They led the front-line well," he added.

"Colchester made it awkward for us. They got on the front foot and created several chances. They didn't allow us to get going.

He also explained how its different at Hull to it was at Colchester: There's a different type of pressure on me, now that I'm at Hull. We want to go up, while Colchester just want to stay in this division. Hopefully, they will stay up and we'll make the play-offs."
