Cureton: I Feel For Colchester

Former Colchester United striker Jamie Cureton admitted he does not want to see the U's get relegated.

Cureton scored a hat-trick against his old side, on Saturday, as Norwich ran out comfortable 5-1 winners. The ex-U's fan favourite returned to Norwich last summer, after handing in a transfer request at Layer Road.

'There must be something about me scoring hat-tricks on an Easter Saturday,' Cureton told the EADT post match, referring to his treble for the U's at Easter last year.

'I don't want to see Colchester get relegated, because they are my old team and I have a lot of friends at the club. I feel sad for them because they've had a bad year.

The ex-Swindon man added: 'But it was important that we won this game, and it just happened to be Colchester we were playing. I celebrated my goals at the time, but I feel for Colchester.'

You have a promising manager down there- considering the heart of your squad has been ripped out, it's no surprise that you've lost confidence. We've always lost our best players throuygh the years, but have replaced them to an extent. I'm sure the club will learn from this season and with the new stadium coming along (thank god!), you'll soon restore your confidence picking up wins again next season.
