Fox So Nearly a U's Player
Coventry City star Daniel Fox, who scored City's second goal against Colchester on Saturday helping his side to a 5-1 victory, has revealed how close he came to being a U's player.
Fox, then with Walsall, rejected the chance to make the move Layer Road and chose the Ricoh Arena as his new home instead. The solid left-back impressed during the U's home drubbing to the Sky Blues, and netted his first goal for the club with a sweet curling strike.
Since making the move to the Ricoh, Fox has attracted the attention of the Premier League with Wigan reportedly eyeing up the Everton youth academy product.
The young full-back said, following Saturday's game: 'It was a tough decision, but Coventry are nearer to home than Colchester and in the end I opted for them.'
Meanwhile the U's second string beat Northampton 2-0 away from home.
Tom Webb and Jimmy Pirie grabbed first-half goals for the visitors. U's first-teamers, Kem Izzet, Jamie Guy, and Kevin McLeod all featured, along with triallist goalkeeper Craig Ross.
