Yeates Transfer Saga: The Latest

Colchester United manager Geraint Williams has revealed that Crystal Palace transfer target Mark Yeates is yet to ask for a move away from North Essex.

The 23-year-old wing-wizard is reported to have failed a medical at Selhurst Park, due to a long-term shoulder injury.

U's boss Williams told The Colchester Gazette: 'Mark went to see a specialist with our physio and while his operation was a success the mobility in his shoulder is not right at the moment.

'Mark has been working to improve that mobility during the last two or three weeks.'

Despite refusing to be drawn on speculation about Yeates' U's future, Williams added: 'Mark has not asked for a transfer.'

Meanwhile, Palace chief Neil Warnock has said of how he is still keen on bringing Yeates to South London.

He told the South London Press: It was probably a bit concerning for Mark to see stories that the deal had fallen through - it's just on hold while he does a four-week rehabilitation plan.

'Hopefully it will still go through.'

The Eagles are believed to have been tracking Yeates for over six months, while Watford and Nottingham Forest are also rumoured to keen.
