U's Break Record, As Gillespie Signs!

Colchester United have broken their transfer record with the signing of striker Steven Gillespie.

Gillespie, 23, joins from Cheltenham Town, for a fee in excess of £400,000. Earlier today Vital Colchester reported that Gillespie could sign in a record deal, to read the article click here.

The U's have smashed their current transfer record, of £350,000, the fee paid for Chris Coyne. Carlisle, Scunthorpe and Southend were just a few of the clubs interested in signing Gillespie.

Gillespie had recently handed in a transfer request following heavy interest.

Vital Colchester would like to welcome Steven aboard and wish him the best for his U's career.

Does this mean we can expect to see a striker departing? Lisbie/Platt or most likely Guy?

Well wouldn't mind Guy leaving now we have Gillespie, our strikerforce is looking very good at the minute. Yep, Southend were interested too! Well would we really need McLeod? Would probably cost alot and is still injured I think.
