Nigerian Front-Man On Trial

Colchester United boss Geraint Williams will cast his eye over triallist Akanni-Sunday Wasiu in tonight's pre-season friendly with Tiptree United.

The U's open their pre-season fixtures tonight, and he will be given the chance to impress at Chapel Road. The striker, who has previously played for FC Vilnius of Lithuania, spent last season with St Albans.

New Boys In Squad

The U's squad for this evening's game with Jam Makers contains new signings, Matt Lockwood, Paul Reid, Matt Heath, David Perkins and Steven Gillespie.

Mark Yeates, Pat Baldwin and Kevin Lisbie are the only senior players not to travel.

U's squad: Gerken, Cousins, Ifil, Reid, Heath, Griffiths, White, Hammond (J), Coyne, Lockwood, Hammond (D), Quintyn, Perkins, Izzet, Jackson, Elito, Wasiu, Platt, Vernon, Gillespie.

Guy Scores Double

U's lonaee Jamie Guy, currently on loan at Oxford United, scored two goals as the Yellows beat Banbury 4-0.

Last week, Guy joined Oxford on a season-long loan deal.
