Williams: Wasiu Not Finished Article

Colchester United boss Geraint Williams has admitted that new recruit Akanni-Sunday Wasiu is not the finished article.

Wasiu, 24, signed a one-year deal yesterday, after impressing Williams while spending time with the U's.

The Nigerian striker netted three goals in as many pre-season games, while on trial with the U's, prompting Williams to snap him up.

Williams told BBC Essex: 'He's scored a goal a game in the three games he's played for us so the lad couldn't have done any more.

'He's not the finished article but he is a goal threat, physically he can get in behind and has got a decent strike.'

He continued: 'We took him up to Loughborough and had a good week of physical training and could see that's not a problem for him.

'We had him in at the end of last year to train with us, we said to him to keep himself fit over the summer and we'd have a look at him pre-season, he certainly did that.'
