Colchester United chairman Robbie Cowling is adamant that the U's must pick somebody 'really good' to succeed Geraint Williams.
The U's are on the lookout for a new boss after Williams left by 'mutual consent' yesterday morning. The U's latest poor result, against MK Dons on Saturday, was the end of the road for Williams. The Welshmen ended a 10-year accusation with the U's; as a player, assistant manager and manager.
The U's placed, Williams' assistant, Kit Symons in charge of first-team duties, with Joe Dunne also helping out.
U's supremo Cowling told BBC Essex: 'I think we've got good people still at the helm and the important thing now is that we pick somebody really good.
'I never want to be a chairman that changes his managers like you change your socks - I want to find good people and work with them.
'When you are in business sometimes it doesn't make things any more difficult, it just make them more unpleasant when you work with somebody you enjoy working with, which I did with Geraint.
'But things have to be done and I have to stand up and be counted from my position.'
Cowling, who featured in the Sunday Times Rich List, confirmed he will also appoint a 'technical analyst'.
He continued: 'One of the thing's we've identified in the club is that there's a lot of work for a manager to do.
'It's very difficult sometimes to do the stuff that is good for the long-term benefit for the club when there's three points to be won on a Saturday.
'So we're going to bring somebody in who can work with the manager and playing departments to help us analyse the things that we should be doing and could be doing that will be better for the club in the long term.'
