Locky: Games Are My Key

Colchester`s Matt Lockwood, loaned to Barnet to find form, says he has had a "frustrating" time since his summer from Nottingham Forest.

The left back hopes to improve his chances of section in the U`s promotion-chasing team, despite his long-term injury woes. Lockwood has been missing for much of the campeign with a knee problem.

He told the Evening Gazette: 'I want to help Barnet win a few games and then come back and try and help Colchester get in the play-offs.'

The 32-year-old has won promotion with both Forest and Layton Orient, and wants to repeat the feat with United this season.

He may be a valuable asset, given his established reputation for set-piece goals.

But Lockwood said: "The gaffer [Paul Lambert] wanted me to have competitive games and Barnet came in with the offer of first-team football."

The player faces the tough task of competing with Marc Tierney for his starting place at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, despite having played the first three matches at the start of the season.

"But I`m hoping to have some games at Barnet, get match fit and try and get back into the Colchester team," he added.

Poor signing, hopefully he his contract is out at the end of the season. Tierney is a much better player and with age on his side has a lot more potential.
ooohhJohnnieJackson
..his contract still has eighteen months to run, or something of the sort, I think I read. Correct that Tierney looks a better player.
