You & Lambert Believe In U's - Poll Result

Paul Lambert blamed the cursed Manager of the Month Award for Colchester United`s loss against Tranmere, amongst other things.

But- like United fans in the latest Vital poll - he believes good things are still possible this for the club this season.

77 percent of the latest vote said that a promotion is still an outside possibility for the club, while just 23 percent thought the award would prove to be a dreaded curse.

As it was, United lost their first game of the year on Tuesday, ending a nine-match unbeaten run in League One, but the Scot refused to lambast his players, instead praising them despite the below-par showing.

He told ITV Sport: "I think the award is a curse! But the run had to come to an end some time and you can't win every single game."

The Scot went on to cite a number of factors that might have caused the loss: unscheduled snow causing fixture cancelation, and a lack of training.

"Whatever it was, whether it was the break we have had of 10 days or not having the chance to train, I don't know. But take nothing away from Tranmere because they were the better team on the night," he said.

Recognising the dramantic improvement in performances since his arrival in autumn, he added: 'I can't be too critical of the lads and we can't be too despondent because they have been terrific for me. We just have to bounce back now and then we'll see how far we've come."
