Cousins: I've Learnt So Much

Colchester stopper Mark Cousins has revealed how much he has learnt from Jimmy Walker.

Walker today officially ended his loan spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, returning to West Ham following three months away. The U's failed in an appeal to extend the loan after a confusing fiasco.

Cousins was called in for a rare start against Huddersfield on Tuesday night, to read Vital Colchester's match report click here. Now the 22-year-old is looking forward to competing with Dean Gerken, who was recalled from a loan spell with Darlington, for the number one jersey.

Speaking to local newspaper the Daily Gazette, Cousins said: 'I have learnt so much from Jimmy.

'It`s been really good to learn from an experienced goalkeeper like him and just to watch what he does, both in training and in matches.

'It`s been brilliant having him with us, similar to when Aidan Davison was with us.'

The Chelmsford-born 'keeper also revealed how Paul Lambert has told his players that they all will be vital.

He added: 'There are a lot of games coming up and the gaffer has said that everyone will be needed.'

So who would you have between the sticks? Cousins? Or Gerken?

A more than able back up keeper. Hopefully we will keep him as I reckon he will have a bright future

... well, maybe. He's been waiting in the wings long enough. But I think Deano will strat a game soon... to keep him fresh. Else why did he go on laon?
