Vincent Reveals U's Talks

Colchester United target Ashley Vincent has revealed he has held talks with manager Paul Lambert over a proposed move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Lambert is thought to be keen to sign the Cheltenham star on loan til the end of the season, with his current contract set to expire in the summer. The lively winger-cum-striker has impressed when playing against the U's this season, and Lambert was quick to take action after Vincent rejected a new deal to extend his stay at Whaddon Road.

Yesterday Vital Colchester reported that the 23-year-old was a target for the U's, to read the article, click here.

Vincent told the Gloucester Citizen: 'Colchester have a nice new ground, it's a nice area and I had a good talk with the manager.

'He heard I was available and had me watched. He likes the fact I am quick and direct and sees me as an ideal signing.'

However, the U's face competition from MK Dons for Vincent's signature.

So is Vincent what the U's are in-need of? Or do we need to strengthen in another area?

Still not sure if he is the right player for us. There is a good chance we could get him above MK Dons given that he will undoubtedly know Gillespie and with us struggling with strikers scoring I would imagine he would see it as a better opportunity.

I think this deal is going to happen! Is he a left-right sided winder too? He could drop-off Platt and give us an extra body in the attacking third!

Well, from what I hear he is a winger, mainly right-sided, but i presume could play on the left, slash striker. All very interesting but has got a bit of pace about him, seem to remember when we played Cheltenham at home he looked good for them and caused problems.

I don't know about this - if you look on the newspaper's webite, most of the comments about him are negative.

He is pacy and when Cheltenham came over to us i think he was wearing red boots and got subbed? I don't think that he has ever been a regular in their team so could only see him being a squad player for us and with comments recently about needing to trim the squad it seems a little surprising that we are chasing him.
