Pat Keen On New U's Deal

Colchester United man Pat Baldwin has admitted he is keen to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The 26-year-old, who joined the U's from Chelsea, sees a bright future for the club under current boss Paul Lambert. The U's are unbeaten in their last five games, with the most recent two games being wins. The first at Oldham, to read the match report, click here, and the second last night against Swindon, to read the match report, click here.

Speaking to Sky Sports.com, Baldwin revealed: 'I'm hoping we can agree on my contract and, as I've been here for seven years, it's obvious that I like it at Colchester.

'I feel that I've been playing pretty well and I'm happy with my own performances.'

Centre-half Baldwin, nicknamed 'Rio', due to his likeness in style of play to the England defensive star, also said how he is looking forward to next season.

He added: 'I would be very excited about next year though, whatever division we are in.'

He has featured twenty-five times for the U's this season, being ever-present at the back since Lambert took charge.

So would you be happy to see Pat sign a new deal?

Yeah, agree, really like him, would be great for him to commit to us, however, its rumoured Charlton and Parky could make a bid.

Why would he go to Charlton? He has said he wants to stay. Given Charlton's precarious status on and off the pitch he would be a fool to move there!

Well, like I say OJJ, just a rumour, and like the majority of rumours is probably a load of bollards, can't see it happening!
