Gilly: Sign Vincent Up!

Colchester United front-man Steven Gillespie has backed U's boss Paul Lambert in his attempts to sign Ashley Vincent.

The speedy Cheltenham winger, who can also play as a striker, is a transfer-target for Lambert, while MK Dons are also interested. Yesterday, Vital Colchester was quick to report that Vincent had already held talks with the U's, to read the article, click here.

Now, Gillespie, a former team-mate of Vincent at Whaddon Road, has revealed he feels that the 23-year-old would make a 'brilliant' signing for the U's.

He told the Daily Gazette: 'I know Ashley very well.

'He`s a top player and he would be a brilliant signing for us.'

The U's record-signing also said of how he thinks Vincent is the quickest player in the whole of League One.

Gillespie added: 'I don`t think that there is anyone quicker than Ashley in the league.'

So do you agree with Gilly? Or do you think otherwise?
