Transfer News: Vincent Deal Done

COLCHESTER UNITED have concluded a deal to bring Ashely Vincent to North Essex.

The Cheltenham Town man has put pen-to-paper on a loan deal to keep him at the Weston Homes Community Stadium until the end of the season. The Robins have been forced to allow a number of senior stars to depart on loan due to their current financial plight.

Vincent, who can operate on the wing or up front, had also been attracting attention from the U's League One rivals MK Dons.

U's boss Paul Lambert told the club's official website: 'Ashley is someone I've seen play a few times.'

The former Celtic man also revealed how U's assistant Ian Culverhouse has closely watched Vincent.

He added: 'He played well against us in both of the matches against Cheltenham and since then, Ian Culverhouse has watched him maybe half a dozen times.'

With his contract at Whaddon Road set to expire in the summer, Vincent will become a free agent so a permanent transfer could be on the cards.

However, 23-year-old ex-Wolves trainee in currently sidelined due to injury but is expected to return in the next couple of week.

Vital Colchester would like to welcome Ashley and wish him the best of luck in his time with the U's.

So is Vincent a good signing? Or did another position need strengthening?

Yeah, seems strange when you put it like that, but suppose they wanted to get a deal done to stop him going elsewhere and before the deadline.

Hopefully he will be a good signing. The players Lambo has brought in since his arrival have mostly been good; Tierney, Hackney, Walker, Easter, Maybury. Gobern i'm not so sure about - lots of running etc but no real end product.

Yeah, the lad Williams from Villa never done alot but he did get injured early on. Not sure about Gobern, when he made his debut against Chletenham, he looked great, running at defenders, beating them and whipping in good crossed but lately he aint really made an impression.

Well, probably better than OK, Tierney is top-draw, Walker was pretty good, Hackney looks very good, so overall some pretty top signings!
