KEM IZZET believes that Colchester United need a regular goalscorer if they want to become one of the top sides in League One next season.
The 28-year-old is adamant that this would make 'a big difference' for the U's. Paul Lambert's men have lacked a striker to who can hit the net week-in, week-out this season.
Record-signing Steven Gillespie, a player when fit, is surely capable of filling this void and becoming our 20-goal a season man.
Izzet said: 'On our day, I think we are better than most teams in this division. We are just lacking in consistency.
'We've played most of the teams towards the top of the table over the last few weeks, and I don't think there is much to choose between them. They are all fairly equal.
'What stands them apart from the rest is that all the top six sides have got regular goalscorers. That makes a big difference,' he explained.
The U's leading marksmen this season is currently winger Mark Yeates, with 11 goals to his name.
'They have the players who can stick the ball in the back of the net, and we haven't quite had that. I'm not just blaming the forwards, because the midfielders should also be chipping in with goals, and we haven't done that enough this season.'
So do you agree with Izzet? Or do you think different?
