Three Years On, Six Survivors!

Colchester United made history on this matchday three years ago, winning Championship promotion against today`s opposition on the last day of 2005/6.

As the U`s prepare to face the same opinion in a nothing game this afternoon, there are likely to be only three survivors from the squad that took Phil Parkinson`s men into the unknown.

That elevation was to put Colchester at their highest level in the football pyramid of all time.

The select six players, however, remaining at the club since being involved that day are: Dean Gerken, John White, Scott Vernon, Mark Cousins and Kemal Izzet.

Defender Pat Baldwin, reflecting before this current clash, recalled in the East Anglian Daily: "Of course I have fantastic memories of three years ago, when we celebrated promotion to the Championship on the final day at Yeovil. That was a highlight of my career, but that's all in the past now. You have to look forward."

Please feel free to tell us about your experience of the 2005/6 season, and winning promotion. Can United do it next season?
