No News On Walker After Release

Jimmy Walker remains a free agent after his confirmed release from West Ham United last week by Gianfraco Zola.

The Italian bailed nine players at the end of their contracts, including club skipper Lucas Neil and Walker, interesting Colchester, was one of them.

The news broke on June 3rd, with most of the players due to leave London for good at the end of the current month.

Having already fought hard to sign the goalie on loan for the whole of the season just ended, the U`s had been pencilled in as contenders for his signature as soon as his future was decided.

Last month, however, boss Paul Lambert acknowledged that Walker may wish to play "somewhere bigger" and the 35-year-old`s chances may have been damaged by the form of both Dean Gerken and Mark Cousins, who are already at the club.

Watch this space!

I'd have Walker for a spare if he's free. But Deano is just as good.

Don't think we could have Walker for 'spare'. The wages he would demand would mean he would have to be first choice and Deano would go if Walker came IMO.
