'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pair Not Wanted By U's

COLCHESTER UNITED boss Paul Lambert has confirmed that forgotten U's duo Phil Ifil and Medy Elito can leave North Essex.

The Scot has revealed that the U's have circulated their names in the hope that interest from other clubs will develop in them. So far, due to long contracts, the Weston Homes Community Stadium exit door has remained relatively quiet.

Since Lambert arrived, in October last year, Ifil, 22 and Elito, 18, have featured only a handful of times between them.

'They were both seriously lacking in fitness towards the end of last season,' the U's boss said in the EADT.

Former U's chief Geraint Williams swooped to sign Ifil, from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, for a rather exquisite 350,000 fee 18-months ago. While Elito, a product of the U's YTS, impressed largely at the back end of the 2007/08 season but things have gone downhill since.

Lambert stressed: 'I don't want players here who are just in the comfort zone. Whether they (Ifil and Elito) will go depends on whether their agents are any good.'

Despite the U's best efforts to offload the pair, nothing has happened yet.

'Circulars were sent out to clubs saying that they were available, but we had nothing come back,' he added.

So are you glad the U's want Ifil and Elito out of the WHCS?

Sady really. I thought both pf them would make it with the U's. Clearly Ifil is cursed and Elito has not had a run of games, but both are still young. I would actaully keep them, if I was manager!

Elito did well during the championship relegation season and I thought that he would do well last season but unfortunately never took that initial promise any further. Ifil never looked that good to be honest.

Yep, I've heard he aint keen on Eltio's attitude. When Ifil arrived I thoguht he would do great but don't think either of them will feature again. . .

yeah I've heard that Elito's attitude has been addresses on a few occasions by reliable sources. . .

Ifit? Just need someone to motivate him! Else sell him. 200 K would be good! Elito? Hard to believe he could have been a Manchester United player!
Matt_Us
His time-keeping is not up to scratch too! Shame, could be a good player if he put his mind to it! Doubt we would get much for Ifil, who's gonna sign an unfit player who aint played competitively all last season?

Both AEE STILL ON THE PAYROLL though!!
