Yeates To Palace Unlikely After Warnock Admission

Neil Warnock last week admitted that he doesn`t expect to sign or sell any more players between now and July, which means London club Crystal Palace probably won`t be back in for Mark Yeates.

Irishman Yeates failed a medical around this time last summer as he looked to stay in the Championship following Colchester`s relegation. 15 goals and a top-scorer award one season later, and this time Yeates is being strongly linked with move away from the club once again.

Those interested perennially are said to be Crystal Place, but there have been unconfirmed reports that Bristol City put in a £300,000 bit last week.

U`s Paul Lambert publically stated that no bids whatsoever had been lodged for his players but Gary Johnson, when asked, refused to comment.

Since then Middlesbrough have joined the fray, according to a tabloid report although manager Gareth Southgate has not passed word on any speculation linking him with the player.

Having tracked Yeates for six months before trying to sign him last summer, Warnock at Palace was bound to be touted again. But he said in the middle of last week that he expects no transfer action in either direction, in or out, between now and July, at least.

"There's been nothing going on in terms of players coming in or going out really," he said. "I don't think anything will happen until July now."

Dispite his generally disparaging comments about Yeates` lack of team work, and an almost inevitable acceptance that Colchester will accept any decent bids for the Dubliner, U`s boss Paul Lambert said he would actually like to keep the player.

The poll on the site currently shows that the vast majority of voters think Yeates will stay with the U`s, despite his contact expiring in 12 months from now.

The winger cost Colchester £100,000 in summer 2007.

Keep voting!

So Palace won't be delving into the market until July; but does that mean Yeates will go elsewhere instead?
