The East Anglian Daily Times is speculating that former Ipswich, and current Lincoln City defender Lee Beevers could join Colchester after his potential deal with Motherwell collapsed.
The defender never has twice won Lincoln`s Player of The Year award and was due to sign for the Scottish side until the deal fell through because of former manager Mark McGee`s departure
Imre Varadi, the player`s agent, twice held talks with Motherwell at the end of May but now it seems he will have to find a new club for his client.
Paul Lambert is reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old, who can play anywhere in defence, on a Bosman free transfer. His preferred position is right-back.
He also won a Player of the Year award during his time with Boston United but has turned down two offers to extend his stay at his current club.
Today's report reminds U's fans that Lambert's priority this summer is to sign a new defender, amind speculation about many of his current central back players.
City say they have not et given up home of keeping the player.
Would this player be welcome at Colchester United?
