Pat Baldwin, the former Chelsea youth and Colchester United defender, reaches the peak of his career this summer - for charity.
The U`s central defender, who is currently on holiday mulling over a new contract offer from the club, plans to climb three of the highest mountains in the UK this month.
His charity event will benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust and Baldwin is undertaking the task in memory of the U`s fan Emily Begg, who died of Leukaemia in 2006.
The football club also recorded a record sung by local boys KOOPA at the time to mark her passing.
The official site says the club has now helped raised £30,00 for the charity since starting fundraisers.
Baldwin himself says on his Justgiving webspace says: "Colchester United has a long standing association with this very worthy cause, as we remember Emily Begg and her support of the club during her time with us
"As a result, I decided I would like to raise money in Emily's memory and for those funds to go to the amazing work her parents have done for Addenbrooke's Hospital.
"I hope that Colchester supporters and their friends and family, along with my own friends and relations will give generously to this very worthy cause."
Baldwin will be climbing Mount Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis from June 26-28 and has raised nearly £700 so far.
U`s fans can donate at the JustGiving website.
Vital Colchester would like to wish Pat Baldwin luck on his charity adventure.
