Reaction: Williams Up For Cup Clash
Former Colchester United manager Geraint Williams gave a mixed reaction to yesterday`s Carling Cup draw.
The non-seeded O`s must face the U`s at home in the first round when the knock-out competition kicks off during the initial weeks of the season.
"We knew we would be playing a seeded team beforehand, so we knew it would be tough," admits the Welshman in tonight`s Ilford Recorder.
"We will be going there to win the game and, for sure, we will not be taking anything for granted," he added.
He also called the tie "typical" in today`s Colchester Daily Gazette but said he had ten very happy years with United before parting company last season after an abysmal start.
The reception Williams gets should reflect his varied tenure at the club. Colchester recorded first their highest position in history in the Championship in 2006/7 before suffering the lowest-ever points haul at Layer Road the following season.
Williams is currently doing well with Orient, having steered them away from the League One relegation zone towards the end of last season.
How will YOU react when Williams comes back to WHCS in August?
