U's Lodge 250K Holt Bid
COLCHESTER UNITED have lodged a £250,000 bid for Shrewsbury Town front-man Grant Holt, according to skysports.com.
Boss Paul Lambert made the bid as he attempts to strengthen the U's squad ahead of next season's promotion bid.
After arriving at the Prostar Stadium last summer, from Nottingham Forest, Holt netted 20-goals, as his side narrowly missed out on promotion. In a League Cup match at Wycombe, Holt netted an incredible five goals, in a 7-0 rout.
Town are yet to respond to the offer but Vital Colchester will bring you any further news on this story, as, and when it happens.

Sign him up! Not sure we'll get him for 250k, can see us signing him for closer to 350k.

Sure, 250K is quite low, and this is where we always get cught into the trap of paying bigger fees..... other clubs who can afford more are alterted and sign the players. Then PL, like Williams, will start getting angry and stop telling the media anything!

Yep, well the clubs aint said anything. Not sure the club would have wanted the fee's involved mentioned...

That'd be a great signing, he has looked a cut above in League Two and he did his best to haul them up single-handedly!

Yeah, thanks Boxer. Really hope we can get him in. Just read on a Shrews fan forum that they think a bid of around the 300k mark will see him gone.

If we were to get him, it would be great. I would be very happy with this eal if we do manage to sign him. Add a few more players into the club and I will start getting excited about the season ahead.

Yeah, don't think you'll see Lambert blowing his whole budget on him. Yep, Brentford have signed three Daggers, Strevens, Foster and Sam Saunders. Good signings for them!
