Following the popularity of Ex-U`s XI feature this week, Vital Colchester has had a go at a best loans XI! Agree or disagree?
The main factors for selection are the player`s reputation and performances for the club, although there were so few choices that in some cases the selection is almost by default.
See if you agree or disagree with Vital Colchester United`s selections. If so, tell us why at the end of this article.
Feel free to comment or make other suggestions if you feel any player has been overlooked - that`s all part of the fun.
A possible Colchester United Select team made up of CUFC players still playing today:
Goalkeeper:
Jimmy Walker (Free Agent - U`s 2008-9)
Defenders:
Jhonnie Jackson (U`s - 2003 Loan from Totenham Hotspur)
Laim Chilvers (Preston - U`s Loan 2003 - 2004 twice from Arsenal)
Wayne Brown (Leicester - U`s Loans 1997, 2004 from Ipswich )
Chris Barker (Plymouth -U`s Loan 2006- 2007 from QPR)
Midfielders:
Mark Yeates (U`s Loan 2005-6 from Spurs)
Neil Danns (Crystal Palace - U`s Loan 2004 from Blackburn)
Hogan Ephraim - (QPR - U`s Loan 2006 - 2007 from West Ham)
Rowan Vine (QPR- U`s 2003 - 2004 from Portsmouth)
Strikers:
Craig Fagan (Hull City - U`s 2003 - 2004 from Birmingham City)
Jamie Cureton (Norwich - U`s Loan 2005 - 2006 from Swindon)
Subs:
Guy Branston (Kettering U's Loan 1997 -1998 from Leicester)
Billy Clarke (Unattached - U`s Loan 2005-2006 from Ipswich Town)
Matthew Mills (Doncaster - U`s 2007 Loan from Manchester City)
Scott Venon (U`s - 2006 Loan from Oldham Athletic)
Adam Virgo (Brighton - U`s Loan 2007-8 from Celtic)
Jamal Campbell Ryce (Barnsley - U`s Loan 2005-2006 from Southend)
Remember- All dates are with the players, many of them now full-time, joined the club on loan. Without using players who later joined United permanently, there would not have been enough players to make a full eleven!
They must still be playing football for a club.
Credit should go to Vital Derby who inspired the original idea.
