Lambert Looks To Loans - Signing Before July

Colchester boss Paul Lambert has admitted ahead of the side`s pre-season training camp that the club will look to arrange some loan deals.

This words in the East Anglian Daily Times newspaper today come in tandem with the latest Vital Colchester poll, which asks when you think the club will complete their next summer signing.

Having already compared winger Ashley Vincent and midfielder David Fox, today the manager said he wants to take as many new players away with him at July`s camp as possible.

The U's borrowed Jermaine Easter and Izale Mcleod last term on loan, but both suffered injury and had to return to thir parent sides beofre contracts with Colchester had expired.

"I am trying to get a few more in, though the club does not have the same finances in the past when they were in the Championship," is what he said on the matter.

"It will probably be a case of recruiting some players through season-long loans, and others through joining us."

Lambert`s words go against what most of you thought on the poll, although it remains to been over the coming weeks who actually stays or goes.

Forty-five percent of you believe that the U`s will actually wait until the second half of July to bring in any further additions, while thirty-five percent say United`s boss will be able to match actions with words and sign up his targets.

Only five percent of the vote chose August for the club`s next signing, which would probably represent a most barren summer, while a pragmatic ten percent of you figured that the U`s must sell a player or two before more investment is possible.

Already talking about loans? Maybe it seems he can't get people in permanently which he was orginally after. So will have to resort to using the loan system.

Point taken but July will see the movement happen. Would like to get some word on the Baldwin situation...

Well the there were 3 out of contract players at the end of the season. Cousin, Maybury and Baldwin. Cousins's deal has been sorted, but still no word bout Baldwin and Maybury. Hopefully when the players go back to pre season training on the 1st, things will get sorted out then. I'm sure Lambert had been talking about trying to get as many players in as quickly as possible, so that they can go to Germany with the rest of the team. But so far, only 2 in.

Sure, yeah... reckon we'll get at least one more before July 1!
