Breaking News: Sky Say U`s Sell Yeates To Boro

Vital Colchester understands that Mark Yeates has agreed to become a Middlesbrough player for £500,000.

The Colchester winger is currently having a medical at the Riverside, according to Sky Sports News.

It means Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Bristol City have all lost out in the battle to sign him.

More reaction to follow later as this story breaks.

Goodbye, Yeatesy!

Beat me too it Matt! Apparently, it could rise to 750k, sounds like a good deal!

I'm sad... tell me it's all going to be ok...??
Matt_Us
Whats he like then? a little insight into the player would be nice, heard about him but not seen much of him. sounds like a good deal on your behalf if it rises to that price and good luck for next season lads!
BoRoLaD88
Well will miss him. I miss him, already!! He's a winger / inside foward who is young and great at free-kicks! He was out top scorer last season.... I'm going to cry in a darkened corner, so I'll let others fill you in! £500,000 is a good deal for you guys. He has a bit to learn about ball-hogging, but no offence to our lads, he may not feel so pressured to take on all the responsability in a bigger team like Boro.
Matt_Us
Yep, you never know what you're gonna get, some games he's ace, others he's non-exsistant! Will miss his moments of magic though..
StevieG Col U
Top scorer last season, leading assits, brilliant free kicks, must of hit the woodwork about 23 times. Our only goal threat. The onl one in our squad with skill, gone! Tbh I think he should be worth at least 1.2mil rising up to about 1.5 mil.
up_the_u's_aaron
Well, Aaron if he had longer to run on his contract then maybe but with one year I think we should be happy with the fee...
StevieG Col U
Given past experience, maybe Stevie you're right. But he's young as well. These things balance out in the end!
Matt_Us
Yeah but with the money Cowling has, and for a type of player of Yeates' stature, I believe he should have gone for more. If not, we shpuld have kept him for now, and sold him in January.
up_the_u's_aaron
Bu then his value would have gone down to almost northing! I think he can be replaced, and £750,000 for a £120,000 signing is a good profit. Good for him to move on now because the side can adapt without him and forget about all the speculation!
Matt_Us
I'm just happy we've managed to get at least 500k, now lets see Lambert given that money to re-invest and bring in a quality replacement.
StevieG Col U
Yeates is like a box of chocolates, then Stevie? (Have you seen the film, Forest Gump?!) Thanks Yeatesy, will be keeping an eye on you. But, I like to think, we'll survive!
Matt_Us
LOL. Up the U's!
StevieG Col U
We'll survive a bit better, if as reported a day later, he doesn't go anywhere!
