Yeates Money To Be Reinvested As Winger Leaves

Colchester United have finally allowed Mark Yeates to sign for Middlesbrough - but the club promise to reinvest the money from his transfer directly into the team.

Yeates, 24, has been linked with a move all week long, and finally completed his deal yesterday after passing a medical.

He seemed delighted, but Colchester fans will also be pleased with comments by Chief Executive, Steve Bradshaw.

"We have to make sure that any investment will be reinvested in the team to make sure Paul Lambert has the best possible chance of getting us promotion," he said yesterday morning in the Colchester Gazette.

Yeates was a fans` favourite at Colchester, having been an integral part of the promotion side under ex-boss Phil Parkinson in 2005/6.

He later returned with the club still in the Championship in 2007, for the relatively small fee of £120,000.

Vital Colchester has produced a tribute to the player, which runs down his five best goals. It can be seen here.

Yeates scored 21 goals in 81 games for the U`s, mostly as a winger.

Vital Colchester would like to wish Mark Yeates all the best in his career and thank him for his sevices.
