Transfer News: Okuonghae Next For U's

Colchester United have completed the signing of powerhouse defender Magnus Okuonghae.

The Dagenham & Redbridge man has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at the Weston Home Community Stadium. Vital Colchester was once again one of the first sites of the web to report the news that deal was close yesterday, to read the article, click here.

The ex-Fulham youth-teamer has played a vital part in The Dagger's team last season but rejected the offer of a three-year contract in favour of a move up the Football League.

Okuonghae, 23, was being closely followed by a number of clubs, with the U's beating a host of League One clubs and Championship side's Plymouth, Queens Park Rangers, Peterborough and Watford to the transfer. Pretty impressive coup by Paul Lambert if that is the case.

Althoguh no fee has been mentioned, the U's will have to pay The Daggers some sort of compensation fee due to Okuonghae's age.

Okuonghae, born in Nigeria, is the U's fifth summer recruit and the second defensive signing ahead of next season's campaign. And with the signing being announced only hours into July 1st, when footballer's contracts around the country finish, we could be in for a busy few days.

So is Okuonghae a good signing?

Sounds like a diamond! Hope he performs for us!

Very happy with this one, though never seen him play!
Matt_Us
Hopefully he will be a collosal and will boss the defence and boss other team's strikers. We need someone like that.

Yeah, seems highly-rated and a great coup considering who else wanted him. Baldwin, Reid, Okuonghae, Beevers + maybe Heath fighting for the centre-back spots, although maybe this new guy will play at RB.

That would be alright, since two of them can also play elsewhere and Tierney is an LB and a CB.
Matt_Us
Hmmm, competition for places in defence! I like!
Rob_CU
Should be good if he was a target of all those teams!
Matt_Us
Good signing!

Now for the strikers! lol
