Baldwin '99%' Certain To Stay

Pat Baldwin will be at the Weston Homes Community Stadium next season after agreeing a new contract.

The Colchester United defender had been weighing-up the U's offer of a new deal for a number of weeks but now looks set to to extend his stay. Although he is yet to ink a new contract, he will do so later this week.

Baldwin had been linked with a move away, due to no announcement being released on his future, with Charlton Athletic a rumoured destination.

However, the cultured centre-half confirmed to the EADT: 'It's not quite official yet, but I will be playing for Colchester United next season.

The U's, and manager Paul Lambert, always seemed keen to secure his services for another season at least and Baldwin insisted that he felt the same way.

'That's been my intention for weeks now, and I'm 99% certain to sign in the next few days. I'm really looking forward to the start of pre-season and beginning all over again,' the ex-Chelsea trainee added.

Many U's fans were worried that Baldwin, nicknamed 'Rio', would follow fellow U's stars Mark Yeates and Dean Gerken through the Community Stadium exit door.

So are you happy to see Baldwin stay?
