Ex-International Training With U's

Matt Holland is currently training with the Colchester United squad as he strides to keep up his fitness.

The former Republic of Ireland international is currently a free agent, although he has been offered a new contract at Charlton Athletic. He is currently mulling over the deal, as The Addicks' takeover remains ongoing.

Holland, formally of West Ham United, Bournemouth and Ipswich Town lives in Great Horkesley, just North of Colchester.

Holland told The Colchester Gazette: 'Colchester have very kindly let me train with them and, with the club being on my doorstep, it's ideal.'

But despite training with U's, boss Paul Lambert is unlikely to offer him a deal, with the U's already healthy in central-midfield. Some fans are touting a possible player/coach deal.

So do you think there is some scope for Holland joining in some capacity?
