Williams Passes U's Medical

Goalie Ben Williams has passed his Colchester United medical signed from Carlisle, according to the Express and Star this afternoon.

Although there has been no confirmation from Colchester's usual sources, it is expected that an announcement will follow tomorrow morning.

Williams passed his medical yesterday after agreeing terms in principle last week to effectively replace Dean Gerken at United.

He originally emerged as a surprise transfer target but will now fight for his place, alongside Mark Cousins, in Essex.

The deal`s expected completion marks the end of a transfer which nearly collapsed last week when proposed makeweight, Scott Vernon, rejected the opportunity to leave the U`s.

Will the club confirm his signing tomorrow?
