Striker To Sign? Press Tip Easter

Plymouth`s Jermaine Easter and Ipswich Town`s Kevin Lisbie are the terrace latest hot-tips as Colchester United expect to sign a striker today.

The club confirmed that they have been in talks with a Championship name this week, as reported in the local press and here on Vital Colchester. Club Chief Executive, Steve Bradshaw, reiterated it last night on live radio.

A feature in yesterday`s EADT, quoting Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock as saying he needs to slim his squad from a mammoth 30-odd players, speculates that Easter might be in line for a return to the club he played with on-loan last season. Click here to see the report Vital produced earlier this week on the link to a comeback for the 27-year-old.

Speculation also surrounds that the mystery Championship name could be Ipswich`s Kevin Lisbie, who is officially out of Roy Keane`s pre-season squad because of injury but has upset his new boss by refusing to move himself and his family closer to Town`s training ground.

Mention of a Championship striker almost defiantly rules out a return for Jamie Cureton, who is known as unsettled at Norwich, click here, and said publically last winter that he would not have minded rejoining to get games. That, having left the club in dramatic fashion two years ago, amid claims that United were a side "lacking ambition."

Although it is frustratingly inevitable to get link with old names, would Lisbie or Easter fit the bill? What about Cureton? Are all these suggestions way off the mark?

Steve Kaba? Name the worst Championship striker you can think of!

Has crap scoring record. Could do alright in L1 if given a chance possibly. Just like Curo, Lisbie - bought in from nowhere.
