Breaking News: U's Agree Fee For Strike Duo

Colchester United have agreed a fee for Hamilton Academical front-pair Richard Offiong and Joel Thomas.

Sky Sports News is reporting that the Accies have accepted an offer of around £225,000. U's chairman Robbie Cowling just tonight spoke of how after seven failed attempts to bolster their attack, good news would come soon, click here.

Offiong, 25, has netted 43 times from 94 starts, which works out at nearly a goal every other game. While Thomas, 22, is a highly-rated French forward who moved to New Douglas Park 12-months ago.

The SPL side finished 9th last season following an unlikely promotion to Scotland's top-flight. However in recent weeks manager Billy Reid has seen a number of his star players depart.

More to follow when we get it...

Sounds alright, just looking them up!!

These are young guys!! Hope they sign! Will really look forward to the Villa game if they do join.

Excitement at last!!! Up the U's!

Like the look of them both, to be fair... let's have them, I guess. Is this the end of Guy and Vernon?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/wolverhampton_wanderers/8146848.stm - LOOK! They are losing their whole team tonight!
Matt_Us
Although the puts into perspective our future hopes of bringing back Lua Lua after his comments, it’s good to see that one of them had a trial with Wigan...
Matt_Us
Offiong has banged em in for fun in recent seasons - should be good signings
ooohhJohnnieJackson
Yep, player of the first division when they went up. Looks like two decent players, both big strong forwards. Long way to go on any deal though...
StevieG Col U
Not really, Steve!! I fully expect them to sign! If they don't, I'll... eat something stupid!!
Matt_Us
Well yeah there is. Personal terms x 2, medical x 2 + lots more. A long way to go...
StevieG Col U
Everyone keeps talking about these two, but there is no clear link on any website. No on our OWS, or theirs, or even on Sky Sports website.
up_the_u's_aaron
Well, it's still unofficial then. Cowling said it's all to be done in "the next few days" and the Gazette have picked it up which perhpas means there's some truth in it, right?
Matt_Us
I supose. But I think they got their story because of the Sky Sports speculation. Tbh I think that's all it is at the moment, just specualtion. There appears to be no solid info. Also Lambert said it was 2 Championship strikers we were after. He didn't say anything about the Scottish Premier League.
up_the_u's_aaron
Really? Oh, well, I assume he has more targets! What do you think about them, if they sign?!
Matt_Us
Yeah, was reported on Sky Sports but doubt there is anyone more in with transfer dealings then them. Wouldn't surprise me if the club don't confirm anything until a deal is done, has backfired a number of times before.
StevieG Col U
Well, what does that mean for the other strikers at the club? But, well, let's just watch and wait!
Matt_Us
Well, think Guy is not wanted by Lambert at all. Vernon, could still have a future...
StevieG Col U
But at least PL knows we need goals!
