Could Holland Ink U's Deal?

Colchester United could further strengthen their midfield options with free agent Matt Holland signing.

Holland, 35, has been training with the U's during pre-season, click here, primarily to keep fit.

He is currently a free agent but does have contract offer on the table from the U's recently relegated League One rivals Charlton Athletic. However, with the club's future still uncertain he is biding his time.

U's chief executive Steve Bradshaw told The Daily Gazette: 'It wouldn`t surprise me if the manager brought another midfielder in.'

Boss Paul Lambert already has captain Dean Hammond, Kem Izzet, David Perkins, Johnnie Jackson, Anthony Wordsworth, Sam Corcoran and new-boy David Fox fighting for the two central-midfield berths.

So can you see Holland signing?

We don't need another midfielder - especially one that would undoubtedly be the top wage earner at the club. The wages would be better spent on bringing the best possible striker available to the club

Have to agree, we've got plenty of options in the centre of midfield. Wouldn't mind another winger but a top-class strikers is a must!

would love to see Holland come in, not only would he add class on the pitch, and I feel offer us something different especially away from home in regards to ball retention and his football intelligence but his influence on the younger players at the training ground would be immense.......the bloke is a model pro.
Living in Exile
He is indeed a model pro and will give you 100% at all times. I'm hoping he does sign the contract we've offered him....looking unlikely though.

Yep, think a player/coach role could be good. Top, top pro as you say,
