Top-Flight Forwards On Lambert's Radar

Colchester United's search for goals could lead them to the Premier League.

After failing to land a large number of attacking targets this summer, the U's look set to exploit the loan market and borrow one of the top-flight's many young, exciting strikers.

Speaking to The Daily Gazette, chief executive Steve Bradshaw: 'We`re looking at young strikers from some of the biggest clubs in the country.

'We`re seeing if they will loan one of their younger players to us for the new season.'

However, last night, as reported on Vital Colchester, click here, the U's did take a step closer to signing striker Joel Thomas.

So who do you think one of the young Premiership forwards could be?

If this is true I'd love to see David Nugent come from Pompey- i saw him play for the lilywhites (missus is a pne fan) a few times before his move south and he played some cracking football. He's a great finisher and a real poacher as well- as demonstrated by his first England goal. He's featured on and off for pompey and could be a huge asset to the U's if he can control his temper and he dosnt mind the drop in division- even below pne.

Well, good player, great finisher but really doubt he's drop down to League One. Plenty of Championship clubs would love to have him! Up the U's!
