'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jackson + Ifil Demand U's Exit

Johnnie Jackson has handed in a transfer request after failing to feature regularly in pre-season so far.

The Colchester United midfield-man was left out the U's squad for last night's game against Aston Villa. To read a match report of the game, click here.

And Paul Lambert confirmed at the press conference after the match that Jacko, along with Phil Ifil, which is no surprise, has asked to move on.

The Scotsman said: 'Johnnie Jackson and Phil Ifil both want to leave the football club.

Lambert selected all of his U's squad last night, bar Jackson, Ifil, John White, Matt Lockwood and Medy Elito, along with injury victims Steven Gillespie and Paul Reid.

'Of the players who played last night, only Steven Gillespie and Paul Reid are injured, he revealed.

Although the former Tottenham Hotspur player is keen to leave, Lambert is adamant Jackson is still in his plan.

'Nobody is guaranteed anything. I don't want Johnnie to go but he is not happy and his agent has asked if he can go.'

However, the same cannot be said about transfer-flop full-back Ifil who Lambert has previously confirmed can leave the Community Stadium.

So what do you think? Do you rate Jacko? Or Ifil?

I might have to think of a new member name, OoooohhhClivePlatt don't really have quite the same ring to it! LOL

I was thinking that! ;-) LOL Wasn't too sure about what Lambert was doing transfer-wise but after seeing the game last night and how good we looked with our best XI, I'm feeling a lot more confident and backing him!

It's a shame about Jackson. I rate him as a player and would be sad to see him go. But is there a place for him within the team to start as there's so many midfield players now? Understand why he wants to go.

Yep, good player but don't think he's going to feature enough, you cant blame him for wanting regular football...
