Ipswich 2-0 U's - Unlucky U's Lose

Colchester United suffered their first loss of pre-season, at the hands of local rivals Ipswich Town.

Both U's boss Paul Lambert and his Town counterpart Roy Keane named strong sides, as part of Fabien Wilnis's testimonial match.

The U's were the brighter of the sides in the first-half, with on-form front-man Scott Vernon going close on a number of occasions, at Portman Road.

However, shortly after the break, and following some changes to the team, the U's fell behind. New-boy defender Magnus Okuonghae steered the ball into his own net from a Town cross.

And as the clock ticked down, home youngster Jordan Rhodes got in behind the U's back-line before calmly shooting beyond Ben Williams.

U's: Williams, Beevers (Corcoran 77), Okuonghae (Heath 78), Baldwin, Tierney, Izzet (Maybury 53), Hammond (Wordsworth 63), Fox (Hackney 63), Perkins (Holt 78), Platt (Thomas 67), Vernon (Malton 78)

Meanwhile, a U's U18 side, containing a number of out-of-favour first-teamers beat FC Clacton 7-3.

So did YOU go to the game? How do YOU think the U's performed?
