Earlier this summer, Vital Colchester ran a series of features on ex-Colchester players still in the game. Inspired by various sources, such as BBC 606 and Vital Derby, we imagined the best possible U`s XI comprising players still in the game, then the same with loans.
We also ran a feature imagining the worst possible eleven of players from the past decade ever to don stripes.
Now, as published in a commemorative book about United`s famous old ground, Layer Road, Vital U`s offers a possible best all-time XI. The side`s selection is down to long-time U`s-watcher, Keith Blaxall.
There are surprise omissions of strike paring, Martyn King (1956 - 1965) and Bobby Hunt, (1960 - 1964) who amassed 213 goals in total for United. Remember to tell us what you think as this series is all about encouraging debate!
