Tilson: White & Heath Will Ease Our Crisis

Southend United manager, Steve Tilson, thinks loan signings John White and Matt Heath will solve the Essex club`s defensive woes.

The U`s pair were yesterday drafted on an initial moth`s loan meaning the Shrimpers now have enough players in defence to make a back four.

They have endured a tarried summer, following Peter Clarke`s departure to Huddersfield and some well-documented financial problems.

On signing White and Heath as cover, Tilson told the Southend Echo: "Matt must have played around 170 games so he knows what it`s all about."

"He`s six foot four tall and therefore has that bit of height we have been looking for to play alongside Adam who is an excellent talker.

"John has also made more than 100 appearances for Colchester and he`s able to play in both full back positions.

"The way things are here though he will be playing on the left hand side for us."
