'If It's Football, It's Vital'

U's: Paul Lambert In Leapfrog To Norwich City?

A multitude of other unofficial fanzines think Paul Lambert is the unnamed manager who has been interviewed for Norwich City`s vacancy.

They explain how City are set to poach the man who cased all their current problems this season by masterminding a magnificent 7-1 victory for the U`s on the first weekend of the 2008-9 Football League campaign.

This speculation comes as Norwich, fast becoming as annoying to some of the football fraternity as Newcastle United, have scheduled a press conference and expect to name their new boss within 48 hours, according to thier Chief executive, David McNally. Oh joy!

That Southend`s Steve Tilson has also been tipped, despite distancing himself from the post last weekend, suggests idle Norwich fans might just be playing a geographical guessing-game.

At this rate, the U`s will have to hold their own conference tomorrow to counter such shenanigans, although City certainly had a lucky escape in not buying Phil Ifil, the last Colchester commodity they were linked with.

Lambert has already rejected the chance to coach Scotish side Motherwell, and also supposedly held unconfirmed talks with Championship Watford, since he arrived as Geriant Williams` replacement last autumn.

It remains to be seen how viable-an-alternative he really is to the recently fired Bryan Gunn, who kept his job last season despite confirming City's ignominious relegation to English Football's third level.

Given the start he has made this season and the signings he has made, this would be very bad news indeed. I think it's just a bad case of adding two and two to get five... very nervous though and will await the headlines tomorrow to see if it's all a bad dream!

Don't be afraid to name us Matt, we had it on Vital before anywhere else. And we'll find out at 10am if we were right!

You guys were right - well done to whoever your source was, if it wasn't a lucky guess. Hope you are happy with your new manager!!
Matt_Us
Im utterly gobsmacked... I cant believe he'd go- let alone Robbie would let him- and taking Culverhouse as well- not that i rate him but i think he'd know the score and be able to keep the philosophy PL installed- not sure how we'll keep it up now. We better get someone in sharpish else it could be a long season- and my bet was looking so safe as well...
The Stig
I had a bet too - 22/1 to win League One. Got it in July! I feel the same... what an annoying game it'll be tonight against Gillingham!
Matt_Us
I think itll be a great game- every should be feeling really *****ed off and take it out on the Gills- i just hope PL doesnt swoop and take half the players he bought in to us- ive never wanted the transfer window to shut early before!!!
The Stig
I hope you boys still carry on your great start. Someone just needs to come in and maintain the standard you've set.
Candid NCFC
... not with our players all leaving. Who elese will follow if Hammond goes to Saints?!?
Matt_Us
Thanks, Candid... I think!!
