Poll: Step Forward Please, Er, Mr. A. N. Other!

The race to replace Paul Lambert, in poll form, sees Adrian Boothroyd come in behind the world-famous A.N. Other! Anyone else up for running this vote again?

Since it was launched on Thursday, Julian Dicks and Kit Symons have both confirmed their ambition to apply for the post, with only Teddy Sheringham officially declining the chance so far.

Adrian Boothroyd`s name came into the frame after BBC Radio Essex reported on Tuesday evening, shortly after Lambert`s leapfrog to Norwich, that he was seen by a supporter in the crowd at the home win over Gillingham.

Steve Coppell and Iain Dowie have both been tipped as well. These ambitious links come because Colchester say they will would prefer to appoint a currently unemployed manager and claim they have received applications from some "world renowned" names.

Alan Crubishley has also been touted because current club owner and Chairman, Robbie Cowling, has connections with his former side, West Ham.

Also thought to be contending are Joe Dunne, present caretaker and Torquay manager, Paul Buckle, a former Colchester palyer.

  • What the poll asked:- - Who Should Become U`s New Manager?:-

  • How you voted -A.N. Other!, 35% ,Adrian Boothroyd, 30%, Joe Dunne,17%, Paul Buckle, 13%, Mark Kinsella, 2%, Teddy Sheringham, 2%, Martin Allen, 1%

Feel free to vote in our next poll, where as pure guesswork we`ve also included the names of former England managers, Kevin Keegan and Glenn Hoddle.

I wanted Boothroyd for the City job, so if you can get him he'd be a blinder.
Personally, I think amid all this stupid talk of "world famous" candidates, the U's should go for either A) Steve Copell or B) Boothroyd. He's young and got experience. Would be very happy if either of those were named.
Boothroyd could be ok. Never played the best football at Watford though, unlike, Steve Coppell.

    I'd quite like Stuard Pearce...!
