Col U: The Race To Replace - Day Eight

News on Charlton`s Mark Kinsella and a link to former Tranmere boss, Ronnie Moore, as Colchester slim-line their new-job candidates by more than half.

Colchester United have slimmed the search for their next manager by half and are believed to be interviewing ex-Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore, on Thursday, with a view to his possible appointment.

Around 12 names remain in the frame as first-round formal interviews invite all serious applicants to impress the panel - for instance, the East Anglian Daily Times refuses to rule out former club man, Mark Kinsella ,while a Daily Gazette report says Matt Holland`s second home won`t become Colchester`s dugout ahead of a pundit studio.

The official website also add that in total, 45 applications were received, with only about 30 considered viable.

One such is believed to be Moore, an experienced man who has had spells at Rovers, Stockport and also Rotherham.

Vital Tranmere, a network sister site, is currently the only mainstream source tipping Moore as someone the Colchester hierarchy feel worth talking to.

It is expected that today's press reports may perhaps offer a more categorical insight into the likelihood of Moore meeting with club directors.

The Moore link comes as a bit of a surprise but did well at Tranmere so knows the League well.

Ronnie Moore is a good manager IMO. Someone like him is loyal and wont bugger off when the first club comes in.

With Lambert, Norwich were supposedly the THIRD club after Watford and Hibs that came in for him, but point taken. At least we can be falttered about that aspect!
