U's Ace Reid: Two Months Shoud Do It!

Paul Reid says he is hopeful his injury nightmare will be over in two-months (and so are we, Paul!)

The Colchester United centre-half broke his knee cap while playing under old boss Paul Lambert (Yes, him again!) in March. After initially expecting to return sometime in early August, but due to another setback, the former Northampton Town man now looks to be out for another eight weeks.

Speaking in The Colchester Daily Gazette, Reid explained: "I`ve been hit by a bit of a setback as I had a cyst growing in the middle of the fracture, which meant it wasn`t healing properly and I had to have it drilled by a specialist in London.

"I`m seeing the surgeon in two weeks and hopefully he will give me the all-clear to do bike work and cross-training which will get my fitness improved, but I think I`ve got at least two months to go before I`m back near contention for the team."

The 27-year-old, who penned a deal from Barnsley in summer 2008, has hugely impressed during his U's career, up until the injury.

Reid felt that while on the sidelines, ex-boss Lambert's questionable management-style made him something of a 'forgotten man,'

"The old gaffer didn`t really release too much news about what was going on with my injury and I felt a bit like the forgotten man," he concluded.

Well - when we went on a run of good form last season. Pat and Reidy were at the back. That says it all! A real quality player who will be welcomed back!

Magnus has looked good, but Reid is still young but with bags of experience. Really good signing by Geriant Williams!
