'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sun Says Peter Taylor In U`s Frame

Monday`s Sun joined the rest of the football fraternity in tipping candidates for Colchester`s next manager, proposing that Southend-born coach, Peter Taylor, could complete a potentially offensive triangle by leaving Wycombe Wanderers.

His name replaces that of Paul Buckle as the possible employed manager interviewed on Sunday by U`s Chairman, Robbie Cowling, and would ironically fit the hyped-up bill as an "world-renowned" coach, thanks to his two international spells with the England U-21 side.

The report also speculates how Aidy Boothroyd, as has already been well-documented, is vying against him as the main contender for the role.

As someone with routes in a part of Essex Colchester fans would rather not mention, plus spice of currently managing Paul Lambert`s old club, choosing Taylor might immediately alienate the club`s more begrudging fans.

However, he has top-flight credentials, having once worked at Leicester City.

The Sun further suggests that Colchester, now down to a list of six final candidates, will announce their new boss on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
