U's Chairman, Robbie Cowling, launched a statement of intent aimed at Norwich City regarding the club`s playing staff following Saturday`s Leeds game and also revealined a negotiations for a compensation agreement over Paul Lambert are " nowhere."
His words were broadcast again as part of the BBC Radio Essex coverage of the club`s swift exit from the Johnston`s Paint Trophy last night and he said: "We`re going to look to get what compensation we think we deserve, because things were not done correctly. We`re nowhere, to be honest with you and I think it`ll end up at a tribunal. We are where we are - we`ve not wanted any of what`s happened - and we`ll do what we need to do, in the best interest of Colchester United."
Cowling comments, of great interest to U`s fans, were reported by the weekend`s media; he declared after much speculation across both the Essex and Norfolk side of East Anglia that no player would leave the club to link up with Lambert whilst he was Chairman. He said the club were exploring all avenues, including the possibility of applying for a potential points dedication against the U`s rivals.
He added: "Joe [Dunne, caretaker manager] has done a great job - none of our players are going to Norwich City. That`s fact, unless they want to pay some stilly, silly sum and then they can; we`ll go out a buy better players. We`ve got a good set of pros all happy to be here at Colchester United and we`ve got a great chance this season - a better chance than Norwich City."
There had been wild speculation that Lambert`s recent Colchester signing, David Fox, might make a move last week but Cowling and Norwich-based paper, the Pink`un, recently reported how United had officially rejected such stories.![]()
