Colchester United have beaten the transfer deadline to bring midfielder John-Joe O'Toole in on loan.
The highly-rated Irishman joins from Championship side Watford, with a loan until January agreed. He links up with new boss Aidy Boothroyd, who is currently being presented to the media, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
O'Toole, who had a loan spell with play-off final losers Sheffield United last season, broke into the Hornets first-team two years ago, at the young age of eighteen, while Boothroyd was in charge. And the U's newest-recruit has a healthy goalscoring record to his name during his career so far.
Following the departure of Dean Hammond, last month, the U21 international will help fill the void left in central-midfield. O'Toole, 20, completed his move down a League yesterday afternoon, hours before the transfer window slammed shut.
Vital Colchester would like to welcome John-Joe and wish him the best of luck in his U's career.
And today goes from great to brilliant...![]()
