Web Exclusive: Aidy On JJ - His New U`s Recruit!

Vital Colchester`s vantage point at today`s Weston Homes press conference allowed some unprecedented access to the club`s man of the moment, new manager, Aidy Boothroyd.

Despite the ink presumably only just drying on Aidy Boothroyd`s Colchester United contract last night, the former Watford manager still beat that pernicious transfer deadline-day window to land the creative yet combative midfielder, John-Joe O'Toole.

He told this website today, in a dual interview also meant for the airwaves of the town`s Hospital Radio, that he has taken the player on to help get his career back on track.

Beforehand, however, also affirmed that taking the Colchester job, for him, was very much a case of finding the right club at the right time. "I am ready; I`ve never been more ready. I can bring some stability to the team and the club and we can get on with doing some work.

"I am going to annoy these people at Colchester because I am viscously ambitious - I like to win and will not stop until I get what I want. It sounds a bit petty, but I`m like that."

Although not promising O'Toole, who he fostered into his former team, an automatic right to play, Boothroyd however sounded enthused by the four-month loan capture.

He added: "He`s a central midfield player, a goalscorer and he`ll bring a physical presence to the team, if selected of course. He`s a guy that`s just lost his way a little bit at the moment and needs to get back on track.

"That`s exactly what we`re going to do - he`s going to find his way again."

The club's latest signing, an experienced addition despite being just 20, ironically made his début from the bench for Watford against Colchester's rivals, Southend.
