Ambitous Aidy Wants WHCS Bouncing!

Just hours after being confirmed as Colchester United's new manager, Aidy Boothroyd has declared he wants the Weston Homes Community Stadium rocking - and I'm right behind ya, Aidy!

I'm sure you'll agree that the U's hierarchy of Robbie Cowling & Co. have pulled off a fantastic coup in bringing Boothroyd to North Essex. And the 38-year-old, who left his last post, with Watford, 10 months ago, has set some ambitious early goals.

Boothroyd said, referring to Paul Lambert's less-than impressive departure, two-weeks ago: "These are interesting times. I agree with Robbie; sometimes out of adversity comes a real positive and I think this is a positive outcome."

The former full-back, who saw his playing career cut short by injury, highlighted the potential within the U's squad, continuing: "I met the players this morning - I`m really looking forward to working with them. They`ve got an awful lot of potential; there`s one or two things that can be tweaked here and there.

"Fans at any club are always very important but none more so than at this club, because Colchester, in terms of its fans, are a little bit out on a limb and that can help galvanise everybody and make this a really difficult place to come to."

Boothroyd, who's first home game in charge of the U's, will be against Hartlepool United, on 19th September, is keen to see a full ground.

He added: "Obviously, fans make a big difference. One of my goals is to get this crowd bouncing and to get the ground full."
